Bridal portraits are a popular southern tradition that have evolved from fairly drab pre-wedding studio portrait sessions to expansive, beautiful indoor and outdoor photography highlighting the bride. These sessions usually take place a few weeks before the wedding and are a great keepsake for you and your family. Therefore, the bridal session can be very beneficial for brides who choose to do the session and serve as a great way to impress your guests. Here are 5 reasons why we think you should have a bridal portrait session:

Bridal portraits are a great sneak peek into how you will look on your wedding day!

Not many brides have the opportunity to see how all of their details will flow until the big day. The bridal session allows you to see how everything blends together (shoes, veil, jewelry, dress, hair and makeup, etc.) and it gives you the opportunity to change anything that needs to be adjusted for your wedding day. Most brides will schedule their hair and makeup trial with their artist and some will have their florist make a mock bouquet for the session to complete their look.

Bridal portraits give you an opportunity to have a different location!

There is no rule that you have to use the same venue for your bridal portraits; you have the freedom to choose whatever location you’d like. You can have a variety of different backdrops for your photos depending on the location and time of year. If you do choose to have your session at the same venue as your wedding you can spend more time with your photographer going over the best spots for portraits to utilize on your wedding day.

Bridal portraits give you more time!

The bridal portrait session allows you to relax and enjoy your photo shoot. You have time on your side and your photographer can take great care with capturing all of the special details you’ve put so much thought into to complete your look. The wedding day and its flow can sometimes be a slightly stressful timeline of events; so having this session can maximize the amount of beautiful, stress free images of you and how you are going to look on your wedding day.

Bridal portraits allow you to relax!

We have found that most brides have never had formal pictures taken of themselves and might find it difficult to feel completely relaxed. However, the more time you spend with your photographers in front of their cameras the higher your comfort level will be and it will be reflected in your images; these sessions more often than not become the bride’s favorite because all of the focus is on them and how beautiful they look. During the bridal portrait session your photographers will see how you react to being a model and learn how to help you relax so that you can be the best you. Because you will be more relaxed in front of the camera on your wedding day, this may help others in your wedding party to relax and enjoy the photography moments as well, which will only enhance your wedding images.

Bridal portraits make a great centerpiece for your reception!

In addition to having some beautiful portraits of yourself, you now how the ability to print and frame your gorgeous images to display on your big day. Let’s be honest, the day is about you so why not share your beauty with your guests? Once the wedding and honey moon are over, they will make great wall art for your home. Each time you pass them by they can remind you and your significant other of the emotions and feelings you both experienced on this incredibly intimate day.
