Melissa and Devin's Bold Rock Cidery Wedding

Meet the couple:

Melissa and Devin first met in marching band during their senior years of high school. From then on, their relationship grew as they shared many math and science classes together through college. These two engineers shared many nights studying and as time went on, their relationship blossomed into one that is full of love and laughter. After eight short years, they had their wedding at Bold Rock Cidery and are ready to share many more years together.

How he asked:

Melissa and Devin love the mountains and spent a lot of time together enjoying them. One day, they went hiking with a friend to a waterfall. The friend had offered to take a photo of the two of them together and Devin took Melissa by surprise as he got down on one knee and popped the question!

The engagement session:

Melissa and Devin chose to have their engagement session in the Blue Ridge Mountains on Skyline Drive. It was a fitting choice for these two as they share a love for the mountains and the views were absolutely stunning. We had started their session at a picnic area just off of Skyline Drive. The greenery and trees made the spot perfect.

The wedding day:

We started the day off with a first look in the light rain. Bold Rock Cidery has this gorgeous tree line that set the scene for an intimate moment like this. The smiles between Melissa and Devin were so bright that they over shined the gloomy rainy day.

We jumped right into portraits after Melissa and Devin shared their first look together. We started along the tree line, then Melissa, Devin and the bridal party separated for portraits as the rain was not letting up. Melissa and the bridesmaids went back to the outdoor space of Bold Rock Cidery’s Taproom where the wedding ceremony was to be held for portraits.

Meanwhile, Devin and the groomsmen stayed outdoors down by the keg storage area and the lower portion of Bold Rock Cidery’s property, near the creek that runs through, for their portraits. The rain soon stopped and Devin and the groomsmen came back to Bold Rock Cidery’s Taproom outdoor space for portraits of the entire bridal party together. We finished out Melissa and Devin’s portraits at the creek located in the valley of Bold Rock’s property to finish out Melissa and Devin’s portraits before the wedding.

Melissa and Devin had chosen to DIY the decorations for their wedding. The simple, yet elegant decorations not only accentuated the space, but made it uniquely theirs. 

The “I do’s”:

Melissa and Devin’s ceremony was like a scene from a movie. Everything was perfect – the breathtaking mountain views, the vows, and raw emotion these two shared with their closest family and friends. The tears of joy Devin shed for Melissa through speaking his vows to her was what every girl hopes for on their wedding day!

Here comes the fun part!:

The best part of choosing to have your wedding reception at Bold Rock Cidery is being able to share your first dance under the stars! The back porch and was the perfect setting for Melissa and Devin to dance the night away. As Devin twirled his beautiful bride across the dance floor, the guests were “ooh-ing” and “aww-ing” as they performed their well rehearsed dance.

The first dance Melissa with her father had a unique twist! Softball was a huge part of Melissa’s childhood and she had spent countless hours playing ball with her father growing up. This was a special memory the two had shared in their earlier years so it only made sense to incorporate this into their moment together. 

Devin shared a first dance with his mother and she had the proud momma look the entire time. The bond Devin and his mother share is so incredibly special.

Everything was perfect.  If you’ve tried Bold Rock’s hard cider, you know what we’re talking about when we say it’s an absolute treat. The food was delicious. The bacon-wrapped meatloaf and lemon garlic chicken were served with mashed potatoes and asparagus which created an explosion of flavor on your palate. The snickerdoodle, lemon raspberry, and funfetti cake and cupcakes were a major hit! We’re drooling just remembering them! The DJ kept the night rolling and there was never a dull moment on the dance floor. Melissa and Devin shared lots of laughter dancing the night away and making memories that will last a lifetime.

The night ended with one last couple’s portrait inside Bold Rock Cidery’s Taproom followed by an eco-friendly confetti exit! During the confetti toss, Devin twirled his beautiful bride then pulled her close for one last kiss to end the perfect night they had shared.
